HOW WE HELP

EO data (e.g. Sentinel & PlanetScope) informs Crestwing’s internal case tool and maritime spatial planning (MSP) maps to identify optimal upscaling areas


 EO PROJECT IMPACT 

  • EOMAP’s EO solutions will provide insights into MetOcean data with a higher resolution & less uncertainty than publicly available sources applying the experimental wave kinematics for shallow waters (Sentinel, Planet Scope data). This data will be implemented into Crestwing’s casetool to improve their validity. 
  • Site location information: Water quality (turbidity, chlorophyll), Bathymetry, Seafloor/habitat
  • DMEC and EOmap will provide North Sea GIS maps as input for MSP, based on the EO data and other public data sources. (REQ-MRE-10) 


PROJECT CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Wave energy use-case with in-situ geophysical data to validate the tools.
  • Maritime spatial planning use-case for the North Sea led by DMEC.
  • Advice on data requirements. For Crestwingspecifically, as well as for the wave energy sector in general.
