Emergent technologies that improve marine spatial planning are offering solutions, presenting an opportunity to streamline costly and time consuming aspects of a project’s lifecycle – potentially solving conflicting spatial requirements that are increasingly becoming a problem in the North Sea as different industries compete for the same areas.
Projects like DIOMEDEO, which leverage Earth Observation data, will boost the growth of offshore renewable energy. In order to dive deeper into this topic, we hosted with The Hague & Partners the latest edition of The Hague Energized – Sea the Future: Offshore Renewable Energy Towards 2050. Check out more details about this event here.
As part of the lead up to the event, DMEC’s Pablo Briggs – Project Manager DIOMEDEO presented on the Stories of Purpose podcast series from The Hague & Partners, discussing the current opportunities & challenges that offshore renewables hold and how our project DIOMEDEO supports the energy industry.
The DIOMEDEO project, funded by the European Space Agency – ESA, uses advanced satellite data to map and monitor our oceans, and provides the critical insights needed to de-risk investments and fast-track the development of offshore renewable energy.
